Husker Student POWER Week

Husker Student POWER Week is a time to celebrate the UNL experience. From yoga to therapy dogs to immersive dining experiences, the week is filled with opportunities to help you discover your why, own your experience, balance your whole self, get involved, and grow your communities at UNL. 

On September 15, the Husker Student POWER survey opens. The survey is open to new first year and new transfer students at UNL. Completing the survey enters you to win tickets to UNL's Homecoming football game, gift cards, and more.

Monday, September 15

Husker Student POWER Survey opens 

First year and new transfer students – tell us about your UNL experience so far! The survey will remain open until Sunday, September 29. It is just 13 questions and takes less than 60 seconds to complete.

Completing the survey enters you to win two tickets to UNL's Homecoming football game, a $100 Chipotle gift card, or UNL swag bag!

Transfer Collective

Study alongside transfer student peers in a relaxed environment where you can focus and work together. Transfer Peer Mentors and University Libraries staff will be on hand to share information about academic and personal support resources.

Whether you’re navigating your transition, looking for study partners, or exploring new opportunities on campus, the Transfer Collective offers transfer students a welcoming space to connect, collaborate, and thrive.

National Guacamole Day with Housr

2 – 4 PM | @ Cather Dining Center

Holy guacamole, Housr is giving away free chips + guac from Birria Bros! Stop by Cather between 2 and 4 pm and show your Housr app to get free guac and learn about healthy eating.

 

First Gen Nebraska Ice Cream Social

2:30 – 4 PM | @ Outside Love Library (under the link)

Join First Generation Nebraska for the debut of this year’s newly redesigned First Gen t-shirt and free ice cream from UNL’s own Dairy Store ice cream.

 

Glow Yoga

8 – 9 PM  | @ Meier Commons

Join Campus Rec for this outdoor Glow in the Dark Yoga class. Yoga is a spiritual practice that connects the mind, body, and breath through physical postures (asanas). Bring your own mat, towel, or blanket. This is a free class - a group fitness membership is not required.

Campus Safety Fair

Stop by and meet Cash the UNL PD Therapy Dog and learn about all the resources and services available to keep you safe and well.

 

UPC Wildlife Encounters Petting Zoo

12 PM – 2 PM | @ Nebraska Union

Get in touch with your wild side at UPC's outdoor petting zoo! Perfect for students and animal lovers of all ages, this event offers hands-on experience with unique, exotic animals in a safe, open-air environment.

 

POWER Paint Night

7 – 8 PM | @ Harper Dining Center

Channel your creativity and paint the windows of Harper Dining!

Big Red Bystander Intervention Training

11:30 AM – 1 PM | @ Nebraska Union Heritage Room

Join CARE for an interactive workshop that will help you build the confidence and skills to intervene when witnessing potential instances of harm.

Big Red Pawp-Up

12 – 1:30 PM | @ Love Library South 221

Feeling freaked out by the fourth week of classes? Come pet a dog and de-stress! Certified therapy dog teams visit Love Library and the Dinsdale Family Learning Commons monthly in this program for students, faculty, and staff.

Big Red Pawp-Ups are organized by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CASNR), Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), and University Libraries in compliance with the University Policy on the Use of Animals.

A special thank you to our local therapy dog teams, Domesti-PUPS, Healing Heart Therapy Dogs and Uplifting Paws.

 

Career POWER Hour with Tazza

1 PM – 2 PM | @ Scott Engineering Center

FREE DRINK ALERT: Tazza is launching a new energy drink and the first 50 students to stop by the POWER hour will get a free Purple POWERpunch Tazz-ergy drink.

Career Coaches will be available to help you prepare for the upcoming Career Fairs - practice your elevator speech, ask questions about professional attire, and chat about all things Career.

Meet the Academic Navigators at the best hour of the week! Snack on fresh-popped popcorn straight from the kettle. It’s free and every student, staff, and faculty is welcome.

7:30 - 9:30 PM | @ Adele Hall Learning Commons Plaza

You survived the first exam of the year! Celebrate, recover, and decompress with free pizza from Campus Rec.


Friday, September 19

Throwback Pilates

4 - 5 PM | @ Meier Commons

Join Campus Rec for a throwback themed Pilates class. Pilates is a low-impact exercise that uses controlled movements to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and energize the body. Participants are encouraged to dress in their throwback themed outfits. Let’s get physical! This event is free to join - no group membership required.
